Ingredients for these air fryer ribs
Really, we don’t need a lot of ingredients to make some incredible air-fried beef back ribs. My preference is to rub my ribs thoroughly so that they cook up with a thick crust. After that, I cover the ribs with a generous layer of BBQ sauce, which is quickly cooked on them until it forms a perfectly caramelized layer of barbecue goodness.

- Kansas City style BBQ sauce
- Kosher salt
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Black pepper
How to air fry beef back ribs
In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. We need to prepare the ribs first before rubbing them down, so save this for later.
Step 2: prepare the ribs
Place the ribs bone side up on your cutting board. You should dispose of this tissue if your butcher didn’t remove the membrane. If it isn’t removed, the ribs will be chewy. Grab the membrane by one corner with a paper towel and slowly peel it away from the bones. Although it might come off in bits, make sure it all comes off.
Step 3: rub the ribs
Sprinkle the dry rub over the ribs on all sides. Be sure it thoroughly coats the ribs. This will assist the ribs in developing the crispy bark that you would anticipate from cooking them on a grill or smoker.
Step 4: air fryer time

In your air fryer, you can transform a standard rack of beef back ribs into an awesome flavor explosion of BBQ rib goodness. Actually, the air fryer does a fantastic job of cooking ribs. These came out tender and had just the right amount of bite to them so that they wouldn’t crumble in your hands. You can quickly satisfy your craving for BBQ using your air fryer, eliminating the need to preheat the oven or set up the smoker.
- 2 pounds beef back ribs
- 1 cup Kansas City style BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- Prepare the ribs. The ribs should be taken out of the packaging and placed bone side up on your work surface. Grab the membrane with a paper towel and gradually peel it away from the bones. The membrane may come off in small pieces.
- Check for fit. Check to see if your air fryer can accommodate the entire slab of ribs. Reduce the ribs’ size so that they can fit comfortably inside the air fryer. You might have to cut them into smaller pieces with one or two bones if you have a smaller air fryer because of this.
- Season the ribs. Combine the salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a small bowl. On all sides, generously coat and thoroughly rub the ribs with the seasoning mixture.
- Air fry the ribs. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. When the meat’s internal temperature reaches 195°F, place the ribs bone side down in the air fryer basket and cook for about 20 minutes.

- Remove the ribs from the air fryer and wrap them in aluminum foil to rest before eating. Allow them to rest for about 10-20 minutes. Slice them into individual ribs and dig in!.
- To fit in the air fryer, you might need to cut your ribs into smaller pieces if they are very large. To ensure that they retain the most moisture, keep them in the largest chunks you can.
- Make sure to air fry the ribs for no more than five minutes after coating them in the BBQ sauce. The sugars in the BBQ sauce can easily burn, especially if the air fryer’s heating element is close to a large portion of the ribs.
