Here’s a breakdown of the Turkey Trot Chicago start times:
Thursday, November 23, 2023:
- 5:00 AM: Diversey Harbor closes to all vehicle traffic.
- 6:00 AM – 8:45 AM: Race Day Packet Pick Up & Registration (Based on availability)
- 6:00 AM: Gear Check opens.
- 8:00 AM: Start Corrals Open | Cannon Dr. at Fullerton Pkwy
- 9:00 AM: Wave 1: 5K – 8K Start (Runners with sub 6:00 min/mile – 9:00 min/mile)
- 9:24 AM: Wave 2: 5K – 8K Start (Runners with sub 10:00 min/mile – 12:00 min/mile) + Walkers & strollers (all participants pushing strollers)
- 9:30 AM: Start Line Corrals Close
- 10:30 AM: Awards Ceremony | Turkey Trot Tailgate Stage
- 10:30 AM: Plymouth Rock Ramble Race Staging Begins | Diversey Harbor North Parking Lot
- 11:00 AM: Plymouth Rock Ramble Kids Race Starts
- 12:00 PM: Turkey Trot Tailgate and Gear Check Closes

Registration fees
- There will be a special timed participant corral for this 8-mile or 5-kilometer run/walk starting at 8:30 a.m. m. Before the 8:30 a.m. start time, only timed participants will have access to this area. For the benefit of other competitors, dogs and strollers are not allowed in the timed runner corral. Please line up outside of the timed runner corral. It is still possible to time you, and the timer won’t start until you cross the starting line. Online registration closed .
- At 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning, start an unscheduled 8-mile or 5-kilometer run/walk. Online registration closed .

Participants aged 7-12. Start at 8:30AM or 9:00AM for your untimed 8 mile or 5K run/walk.
Newborns – age 6.
The 8:30am TIMED start will include an exclusive, timed Participant Corral for this 8 mile or 5K run/walk. Only timed participants will be allowed in this area prior to the 8:30am start time. For the safety of other runners, NO DOGS OR STROLLERS will be allowed into the timed runner corral. Please line up outside of the timed runner corral. You can still be timed, and your time will not begin until you cross the start line.
Families, walkers, and runners gather at The Roost, formerly the “VIP Area,” to refuel before The Trot. Space is limited, so act quickly to reserve your spot by buying your pass to The Roost at the time of registration.
