When Thanksgiving and Christmas get close, I always start to think about what I’ll make for the big meals.
What I serve depends on whether I’m having people over or we’re going to visit family.
Since we all live in the same town, we each bring a different tasty side dish to our Thanksgiving meal.
Most Americans serve mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. Those are my favorite recipes.

What is honey baked ham?
Everyone in my family loves the Honey Baked Ham Company, especially during the holiday season.
I consider it the world’s best ham!
There are places all over the country where you can buy honey-baked turkey, tender bone-in hams, and hams without bones. You can also get a lot of tasty side dishes.
You can even stop by for lunch or to buy a pound of ham slices, just like at your local deli, but they are better and taste better.
It wasn’t cheap, but I saved money last year by getting two $50 Honey Baked Ham store gift cards at Costco for $80. I used them at any of their restaurants.
I used their helpful online app to plan ahead and order my ham. I then walked to the front of the store to pick up my order for my family’s dinner.
They extend their available ordering hours over the holiday season as well as offer carry out service.
If you always eat turkey for Thanksgiving, a honey-baked ham is a nice change for Christmas dinner, New Year’s Eve, Easter dinner, and other special occasions.
While we always have plenty of ham dinner sides, it’s the ham that gets picked over. It’s a crowd favorite. My family is always heading back into the kitchen for a second helping.
And I never let one piece go to waste.
After dinner, we go to the family room to watch football. While we’re there, I clean up the kitchen slowly before setting out desserts and coffee.
I transfer the leftover ham slices to a container for hungry appetites tomorrow.
And I always save the hambone to make my Honey baked ham and vegetable soup.
I make my own broth from the ham bone, which gives my soup a great flavor, so nothing goes to waste.
Sandwiches are always a hit as are the leftover side dishes. Some reheat easily and others are delicious cold or at room temperature.
The best part about serving ham is that it’s easy to find the perfect side dish.
