As a seafood lover living in metro Detroit, I’m always on the hunt for great local spots to get my fix of crab, shrimp, crawfish and more. So when I heard about A Plus Crab opening up in Auburn Hills, I knew I had to check it out After visiting and indulging in their impressive Cajun boils, I can say this place is a win for seafood fans in the area!
Authentic Louisiana Flavors in Michigan
One of the things that first caught my attention about A Plus Crab is that they specialize in true Louisiana-style seafood boils and Po’boys. As someone who loves the bold, peppery flavors of Cajun cuisine, it’s exciting to find a local spot bringing a taste of NOLA to our neighborhood.
Owner Hua and his team moved up from Louisiana to open A Plus Crab, and they brought their tried-and-true family recipes with them. That means you can expect authentic seasoned boils along with Southern hospitality here in Auburn Hills.
Cool Industrial Space with Casual Vibes
The restaurant is located in a neat industrial-chic building just off of Baldwin Road. Inside, the dining area has a relaxed, casual atmosphere with a clever crab theme.
Wood plank walls, metal crab cutouts, nautical ropes and buoys create a fun, coastal vibe. There are tables and booths for seating options Plus TVs around the room for catching games while you dine.
The mix of polished concrete floors, warm lighting, and pops of color give it a welcoming, laid-back feel that’s perfect for a crab feast!
Let’s Talk Seafood – Fresh and Plentiful
Okay, let’s get to the good stuff – the food! A Plus Crab offers an array of seafood boil options served up fresh and flavorful. You can choose from selections like:

These lightly breaded and fried seafood treats are the perfect starters or meals in themselves. The oysters and soft shell crab are standouts if you ask me!
Po’Boys – A Taste of Louisiana
Of course, you can’t talk Louisiana flavors without mentioning Po’boy sandwiches! A Plus Crab crafts these regional specialties on French bread loaded with your choice of fried seafood.
I’m a big fan of the shrimp and oyster Po’boys, but you can also get catfish, soft shell crab, crawfish and even gator! They’re dotted with shredded lettuce, tomato, and remoulade for the full Big Easy experience.
Cajun Sides, Appetizers & More
In addition to seafood dishes, A Plus Crab offers an array of Louisiana-inspired sides, shareables, and starters. Think boudin balls, fried pickles, hushpuppies, gumbo, jambalaya, and more.
