20 Ground Turkey Recipes for Easy Weekday Meals

I mean, what’s not to love about super simple stir-fry dinners? They only require a few ingredients, can incorporate a ton of veggies, and are incredibly quick to prepare! Using ground meat further simplifies the process because it eliminates the need to cut or slice raw meat, which I personally detest. This Ground Turkey Stir Fry is especially great because it’s so versatile. Make it spicy or mild, using whatever veggies you have on hand, and serve it with noodles, rice, or, for a low-carb option, shredded cabbage. Scroll down for more deets on those options!.

Another dish that was inspired by those “macro-friendly” meal delivery services that bring individually packaged, reheatable meals right to your door is this ground turkey stir fry. Even though those services are incredibly convenient, I know I can make similar meals at home for a much lower cost. 🙂 The macros in this dish are easily modified by adding, removing, or changing any of the following: rice, nuts, vegetables, or turkey. I’m sorry, but I don’t have the meal’s precise macronutrient breakdown. You can learn why in my FAQs.

How to Store Ground Turkey Stir Fry

This recipe is excellent for meal preparation, but I advise storing it only in the refrigerator as opposed to the freezer. Freezing will cause the vegetables to soften further and seep more water. This dish will stay good in the refrigerator for about four days.

easy recipe ground turkey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce ($0.24)
  • 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame oil ($0.16)
  • 1/2 Tbsp brown sugar ($0.02)
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional) ($0.02)
  • 1 Tbsp water ($0.00)
  • 2 bell peppers ($2.00)
  • 4 green onions ($0.22)
  • 2 oz. spinach (two large handfuls, or 1/4 of an 8oz. bag) ($0. 30).
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil of choice ($0.08)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced ($0.16)
  • 19 oz. ground turkey* ($3.49)
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts ($0.12)
  • 2.5 cups cooked brown rice ($0.60)
  • To make the stir fry sauce, whisk together the water, brown sugar, red pepper, toasted sesame oil, and soy sauce until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set the sauce aside.
  • Dice the bell peppers and slice the green onions.
  • In a very large skillet, heat the cooking oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground turkey and minced garlic. Stir and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the turkey is thoroughly cooked and there is no longer any water accumulating at the bottom of the skillet.
  • When the turkey has finished cooking and the liquid has evaporated, add the green onions and bell pepper to the skillet. Add the spinach and cook for an additional one to two minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the spinach is just halfway wilted.
  • Pour the stir fry sauce into the skillet. Stir and cook the turkey and veggies for a further two minutes or until the sauce coats everything and the spinach is completely wilted.
  • About one cup of the stir-fry mixture should be served with half a cup of rice and chopped peanuts on top.

Customize your Ground Turkey Stir Fry

  • By using more veggies and less ground turkey, you can lower the cost of the recipe.
  • Instead of using ground turkey, substitute ground beef, pork, chicken, or crumbled tofu or tempeh.
  • Additional vegetable options include water chestnuts, snap peas, broccoli, carrots, bean sprouts, and mushrooms.
  • Instead of peanuts, sprinkle cashews or sesame seeds on top.
  • Add some heat to the stir-fry sauce by incorporating one or two tablespoons of sriracha or chili garlic sauce.
  • For added zing, add some freshly grated ginger to the stir-fry sauce.
  • Instead of serving the stir fry over rice at the end, add cooked noodles.
  • Instead of serving the stir fry with rice or noodles, add a bag of coleslaw mix to bulk it up without adding carbohydrates, much like in my Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry.
