It is significantly larger than other varieties that only perform one of these functions, but you omit one appliance if you choose to purchase a device that air fries AND pressure cooks.
Please don’t. The entire reason this cut of meat is so flavorful is because it is fully infused with a brine, and if you rinse the meat, you’ll be rinsing away all the flavor, whether you bought a ready to cook corned beef or you cured your own. Some people choose to run it under cold water to reduce their intake of sodium, but be aware that this will significantly alter the flavor.
Yes, this goes with any meat. If so it will become tough. The best way to make it is definitely in a pressure cooker because you need a lot of liquid to cook it in.
We decided to use these as the ingredients and type of meat. There are times when there is only one type of flat or point cut available at the store.
Although we have made them all and they are all delicious, if I had a choice, I would probably choose flat cut.
Ninja Foodi corned beef and cabbage
- Foodi or Instant Pot will work too
- Corned beef – 3 lbs. This is a point cut brisket; flat cut and round cuts are also available. A seasoning packet is included inside the bag.
- 4 large red potatoes or 2 large russet potatoes.
- I only purchase beer when it is on sale, and I prefer cooked corned beef in beer to a different liquidYou can add water or broth if you’d like, but beer makes it taste even betterUse any kind you like; I like blonde ale.
- Cabbage You’ll only use the top large 8–10 pieces; use the remainder in one of our Ninja Foodi recipes or make red cabbage coleslaw to serve separately rather than cooking it all at once.
- Optional but excellent to serve as a side dish with the potatoes is onion.
When it is finished, use our corned beef mustard sauce to serve.
Yes, we are using potatoes as a trivet, so they will become more delicious than you could possibly imagine.
Since we don’t typically drink beer around here, I only have enough to make this and the best beer bread recipe, which makes a fantastic side dish for it.
Corned beef and cabbage recipe
Here, we’re going to prepare corned beef and cabbage using the pressure cooker setting. similar to the oh-so-tender roast we made with Ninja Foodi
Time needed: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Ninja Foodi Corned Beef and Cabbage
- Place potatoes on the bottom so they can serve as a trivet for your meat after adding edible trivets. To ensure a flat surface and stability, place your piece on your potatoes with the fat side facing up.
- Add liquid Pour some beer or another liquid over the corned beef, then top with the spice packet that is inside the bag.
- Close the steam valve and lid of your pressure cooker, and set the timer for 1 hour 25 minutes (for a 3 lb. (For the best corned beef ever, release pressure gradually; a quick release will prevent it from becoming as tender.) Allow steam to naturally release for 15 minutes.
This piece was quite lean. Whatever you have, put the fattiest side facing up. This will enable the juices and moisture to drip across the remaining food, keeping it moist and tender.
Yes, we have cooked corned beef brisket in a slow cooker before, and it was wonderful. This is just a different approach, but it works just as well and takes much less time.

If you wonder why I use potatoes as trivets instead of using a trivet with handles, this is why.
These incredible potatoes are made by the pressure cooker soaking up all the flavors in the pot.
How to cut cabbage for corned beef
Typically, you just peel the leaves off whole without cutting it at all. If you’d like, you can top your meat with it and “steam” it for one more minute, or you can cook the vegetables separately and serve them with the meat. We have a ton of Ninja Foodi recipes if you’re looking for more.

Ninja Foodi Corned Beef and Cabbage
- 2.5-3 lb corned beef brisket
- 12 oz beer
- 2 large russet potatoes, cut in half, or 4 large red potatoes
- 1 onion sliced, optional
- 1/2 head cabbage
- Rinse potatoes. Set large red potatoes in the center, closely spaced apart, and with similar sizes so that the beef can be placed on top. If using two large russets, cut them in half and place the cut sides down in the center of the pot. These will be your trivet.
- Place the corned beef piece flatly atop the potatoes.
- Pour beer on top of meat.
- The corned beef seasoning packet is inside your meat pouch; sprinkle it on top of the meat.
- Close the steam valve and your pressure cooker’s non-attached lid.
- Turn Ninja Foodi on, then press pressure button. Set to high for 1 hr 25 minutes (for 2. 5-3 lbs. this time works well). Press start. after finishing, allow pressure to release naturally for about 15 minutes.
- If there is any remaining steam, let it out after roughly 15 minutes. Set a piece of corned beef aside and cover it with a cutting board.
- Potatoes should be removed, placed in a bowl, and covered to keep warm.
- Remove the bottom of the cabbage and separate the top layer of leaves to create 8–10 substantial pieces. Slice your onion into large pieces.
- Add onions into pot with juices, then add cabbage leaves.
- Put pressure lid back on. Close steam valve. Turn pot on, press pressure, high for 3 minutes. Press start.
- Do a quick release when done.
- Sliced corned beef should be served with some cooked potatoes, onions, and cabbage. Enjoy.
