I have a small turkey breast I want to cook in the air fryer. The turkey breast is in a cooking bag. Can I cook a frozen turkey breast without first thawing it, or do I need to remove it from the bag?
Ah Thanksgiving and Christmas—a time for family, friends and, of course, an abundance of delicious food. But what happens when you’re left with leftover turkey breast? Don’t worry, there’s no need to toss it out! This guide will show you how to reheat turkey breast in an air fryer, the perfect solution for a quick, easy, and flavorful meal.
Why Reheat Turkey Breast in an Air Fryer?
The air fryer is a fantastic tool for reheating turkey breast because it cooks it evenly and quickly without drying it out. Unlike traditional methods like the oven or microwave, the air fryer’s circulating hot air ensures a juicy and tender result. Plus, it’s a much faster option, saving you precious time when you’re hungry.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Preheat the Air Fryer:
Set your air fryer to 300°F (150°C) and let it preheat for a few minutes. This ensures even cooking and prevents the turkey from becoming dry.
2 Prepare the Turkey Breast:
Remove the turkey breast from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. This allows the meat to cook more evenly and prevents it from becoming tough.
3. Moisten the Turkey (Optional):
For extra moisture and flavor, you can drizzle the turkey breast with a little olive oil, balsamic vinegar, or even your favorite gravy. This step is especially helpful if the turkey was originally cooked without much moisture.
4. Place the Turkey in the Air Fryer:
Place the turkey breast slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding, as this can lead to uneven cooking.
5. Reheat the Turkey:
Air fry the turkey breast for 6-8 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). The exact time may vary depending on the thickness of the slices and your air fryer’s power.
6. Enjoy!
Once the turkey is reheated, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. You can enjoy it as is, or use it in your favorite recipes, such as sandwiches, salads, or wraps.
Tips for Success:
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. This can lead to uneven cooking and dry turkey.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. This is the best way to ensure the turkey is cooked through to a safe temperature.
- Add a little moisture. Drizzling the turkey with oil, vinegar, or gravy can help keep it moist and flavorful.
- Don’t overcook the turkey. This can make it dry and tough.
- Experiment with different seasonings. You can add your favorite herbs and spices to the turkey for extra flavor.

Re: Turkey Breast in Air Fryer
Hello @shades57633, I believe I need to clarify my understanding of your questions with a few more.
In addition, I personally wouldn’t fry a frozen turkey breast in an air fryer because the heat is so concentrated and intense that I wouldn’t be sure it was cooked through. When you say the turkey breast is in a cooking bag, are you referring to the casing that the turkey originally came in?
