1 Moist Spicy Turkey Burgers from Allrecipes

This recipe is perfect for those who love a good kick. The combination of hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and parsley paste creates a complex flavor profile that is both savory and spicy. The addition of bread crumbs and chopped onion helps to keep the burgers moist and tender, while the green onion adds a fresh, pungent bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley paste
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Mix ground turkey, bread crumbs, onion, green onion, egg, garlic, parsley paste, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and salt together in a bowl. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. Form turkey mixture into four patties; arrange in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 30 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

2. Jalapeño Pepper Jack Turkey Burgers from Sally’s Baking Addiction

This recipe is a bit more subtle in its heat, but still packs a flavorful punch. The jalapeño peppers and pepper jack cheese add a nice kick, while the cumin and smoked paprika provide a smoky depth of flavor. The addition of cilantro adds a fresh, herbaceous note that complements the other flavors perfectly.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 Tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño, diced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds 94% lean ground turkey*
  • optional: 6 slices pepper jack cheese
  • for serving: hamburger buns, jalapeño slices, spicy mayo or ranch dressing, guacamole, tomato, lettuce, etc

Instructions:

  1. Whisk all of the first 11 ingredients together (not the 12th ingredient, the ground turkey) in a large bowl. Once completely combined, add the ground turkey and use your hands, a rubber spatula, or wooden spoon to thoroughly mix. Once completely combined, form the mixture into 6 plump and compact patties. The patties will weigh around 6 ounces each and be a heaping 1/2 cup each.
  2. Place the patties onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, baking pan, or plate. Cover tightly then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 24 hours. This ensures the patties will hold their shape. You can also freeze the patties for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator.
  3. Clean the grill and grease with vegetable oil. Pour a little vegetable oil on a paper towel and carefully rub all over the grates. Preheat grill to high. Place cold turkey burgers on heated grill and cook for 5 minutes with the lid closed. Flip burgers over and cook covered for an additional 3 minutes or until a meat thermometer registers 165°F (74°C). If adding cheese, place a slice of cheese on the burger for the last 30 seconds. Overcooking the turkey burgers will quickly dry them out, so keep a close eye on them.
  4. Serve on hamburger bun with desired toppings.

Tips:

  • For both recipes, you can adjust the amount of spice to your liking. If you’re not a fan of heat, you can omit the hot pepper sauce or jalapeño peppers.
  • You can also add other ingredients to your burgers, such as chopped vegetables, cheese, or herbs.
  • Be sure to cook the burgers until they are cooked through, but not overcooked. Overcooked turkey burgers will be dry and tough.

No matter which recipe you choose, you’re sure to enjoy these delicious and flavorful spicy turkey burgers. They’re perfect for a summer barbecue, picnic, or any other occasion. So fire up the grill and get ready to enjoy!

Overview of Ingredients in These Turkey Burgers

You must enhance the burgers’ flavor because ground turkey just doesn’t have the same flavor profile as ground beef. I experimented with various herbs, spices, and binders before determining that the list below was the real deal. Each ingredient adds a little something special and I encourage you to try the recipe as written. However, feel free to substitute your preferred flavors!.

  • Ground Turkey: Ground turkey is the key component of turkey burgers. I usually use 94% lean ground turkey. The meat in a turkey burger is leaner and drier the higher the percentage of turkey. For best results, stick with around 94% lean. Remember, fat adds flavor.
  • Egg: 1 egg binds the ingredients together.
  • Pepper Jack Cheese: Not only does pepper jack cheese add flavor and moisture to the turkey burger mixture, but it also adds a spicy cheesy texture!
  • Onion: Adds flavor and moisture.
  • Garlic: Adds flavor. Use either pre-minced garlic or mince 2 garlic cloves yourself.
  • Fresh cilantro enhances flavor and goes exceptionally well with jalapeño. I was utterly mistaken to think that I would enjoy the cilantro that was IN the burger. It’s fantastic.
  • Jalapeño pepper: Adds a great kick! Adjust the amount according to your tolerance for heat. See more below.
  • Worcestershire: Adds exceptional flavor and moisture.
  • Salt & Pepper: Essential flavor!
  • Paprika that has been smoked The burger’s flavor is enhanced by the sweet, rich, and smoky flavor of the smoked paprika, and the warm, earthy taste of the cumin is a welcome addition.

What makes turkey burgers stick together?

Add a spoonful of mayonnaise. A spoonful or two of mayonnaise, mixed right in with the ground meat. Now hear me out. Most recipes use egg to bind ground turkey, helping the meat to form into cohesive, juicy patties.

What to use to keep turkey burgers from falling apart?

Just like in a traditional meatloaf, you need something to hold the meat together. Try adding some dry breadcrumbs to the turkey mixture before you shape the patties. The crumbs will absorb the moisture and, together with the egg, will act like glue and help your burgers maintain their shape on the grill.
