I’ve been thinking a ton about the fair. Though it’s been a while, every time I visit, I make sure to head straight for the booth selling the enormous turkey legs. Holding a huge turkey leg in my hand while walking through the fair brings back great memories. Forget the rides, forget the prizes, it’s all about the food.

If you wanted to serve these Roasted Turkey Legs for Thanksgiving, they would also be ideal for a weeknight dinner. I cook them in the air fryer because it maintains the moisture and crispy exterior of the turkey leg.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ pounds turkey legs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, poultry seasoning, parsley, salt, paprika, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Brush half of the oil mixture onto all sides of the turkey legs. Place them in the air fryer basket.
  4. Cook for 25 minutes. Brush the tops of the turkey legs with some of the remaining oil mixture. Flip the legs and brush with the rest of the oil mixture.
  5. Continue cooking for 10 more minutes, or until the turkey is no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Notes on Air Fryer Roasted Turkey Legs

  • Turkey legs should be available in the poultry section of your neighborhood supermarket. They usually sell them in packs of 2 or 3. Choose a leaner pack of turkey legs and modify the cooking time accordingly.
  • Different air fryers will require different cook times. Adjust your cook times accordingly.
  • When I make turkey legs in the air fryer, I don’t brine them. Since the Air Fryer keeps the meat moist, there was no need to.
  • Lean turkey legs will cook in less time. Cut cooking times in half.
