As an avid Zelda fan, I’ve been eagerly exploring the vast open world of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. I especially enjoy experimenting with different ingredients and recipes in the robust cooking system One of my favorite ingredients to cook with is the unique Razorclaw Crab In this guide, I’ll share everything I’ve learned about locating these feisty crustaceans in TotK.
Razorclaw Crabs are a blue variety of crab found along the coastline of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. According to the in-game compendium, they are “well known for [their] exceptionally sharp pincers”. When used in cooking, their claws impart an Attack Up bonus.
These crabs can be tricky to catch as they scuttle away rapidly when approached. But once you get the timing down, gathering them is satisfying. Their vivid blue shells and orange pincers make them easy to spot amongst beach debris and other marine life.
Now let’s dive into the best farming locations to load up on Razorclaw Crabs for your culinary pursuits!
Farming Razorclaw Crabs at Martha’s Landing
One of the most reliable Razorclaw Crab farming spots I’ve found is along the shores of Martha’s Landing in southeastern Faron. This vast sandy beach stretches on for quite a ways, providing prime crab habitat.
To get there, fast travel to the Joju-u-u Shrine which sits near Lakeside Stable. From the shrine, head southwest down to the beach. Then go west along the coastline to find crabs.
Razorclaw Crabs tend to spawn in clusters here. Keep moving down the beach and scanning the sand closely. Their blue shells stand out nicely. You’ll also encounter some red Ironshell Crabs mixed in.
Faron crabs are especially abundant right where the beach transitions into the Komo Shoreline. Expect some Lizalfos enemies and a few Stone Talus rock monsters around this area too. Comb through carefully to grab as many Razorclaw Crabs as your inventory allows.
With some time spent combing Martha’s Landing, you should stock up on plenty of these attack-boosting crabs for cooking effects like Simmered Crab or Crab Risotto. It’s one of the most reliable early game Razorclaw Crab locations.
Razorclaw Crab Spot at Lanayru Bay
Once you’ve unlocked more of Hyrule through story progression, an even better Razorclaw Crab farming opportunity opens up along the coast of Lanayru Bay.
Specifically, the beach just north of the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower is crawling with the crabs. This area is slightly northwest from Naydra Snowfield.
To reach it efficiently, use the Skyview Tower to launch into the air with your paraglider. Then glide northwest to coordinates around 3876, -0674.
Land on thegolden sandy beach and you’ll discover it’sabsolutely teeming with Razorclaw Crabs. This compact area lets you snag them quickly and reliably.
Farming here nets you enough crabs to boost your attack power for days. And it never hurts to have extra crab ingredients ready to combine with other items.
Other Tips for Farming Razorclaw Crabs
Aside from Martha’s Landing and Lanayru Bay, Razorclaw Crabs can appear along most Hyrule beaches. But they tend to be more scattered. Here are some other tips for gathering them efficiently:
-
Search coastlines at night when their glowing eyes stand out in the darkness.
-
Equip stealth armor so you can sneak up on them before they flee.
-
Use the Stasis rune to freeze crabs in place temporarily.
-
Cook with Razorshrooms to get attack up bonuses without hunting crabs.
-
Purchase crabs from traveling merchants like Beedle if you have the funds.
