The majority of pool table felt is made of nylon and wool blends, and it can be colored with Rit dye. On the other hand, there is no way for us to predict how the water and dye will react with the surface of the pool table. Apply the dye sparingly to the wet felt while it’s still wet using a sponge. The temperature of the dye water should be quite high.
How to Dye Pool Table Felt?
Now that you are aware that billiard table felt is a type of fabric that can be dyed any color, allow me to demonstrate how to do it.
You should always conduct a test on a spare part of the fabric first before attempting to dye the felt.
Some dyes might not fully penetrate the fibers, leaving behind residue that rubs off or smears as balls roll over it. If this occurs, there might be a small mess on the playing field that gets on the balls.
The felt must be completely removed before being thoroughly rinsed with warm water and a mild detergent. You should exercise caution when cleaning the cloth due to the material’s tendency to be temperamental and unpredictable.

Can You Paint Pool Table Felt?
If you want to change the color of your pool table felt, painting it is not the best option because it may result in a rough surface that alters the dynamics of the cloth. Yes, you can technically paint the material, but there are some reasons why you shouldn’t.
Painting only coats the material and sits on the surface. Additionally, it’s very challenging to apply an even coat, which interferes with its features and may result in an uneven playing surface. The minuscule paint blobs can serve as speed bumps that alter the direction, speed, and motion of balls.
It’s not a good situation because consistency and knowledge of ball behavior are important in pool.
Most of the time, it is extremely unlikely that any felt coloring technique will make it look better than replacing it However, since that is a wholly subjective opinion, many people might disagree with it.
