Does Coffee Bean Really Serve Food? A Closer Look at Their Café Menu

Coffee Bean is known for their wide variety of coffee drinks and teas. But did you know they also have an extensive food menu? As a frequent Coffee Bean customer myself, I decided to take a closer look at their café offerings.

For those not familiar, Coffee Bean is a popular coffee shop chain founded in 1963 in Los Angeles. They now have over 1000 locations, primarily on the West Coast but also in other states.

Coffee Bean built their reputation on premium coffee drinks like espresso, lattes, and iced blended coffees But over time, they expanded their menu to include food items as well

Below I’ll walk through the different categories on the Coffee Bean food menu, describing some of my favorite picks. My goal is to showcase the surprising breadth of their food options, which many people don’t realize

Breakfast Sandwiches and Bakery Items

Coffee Bean has an entire section of their menu dedicated to breakfast, with options served all day This is perfect if you want a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee on-the-go

Some of my go-to choices here include:

  • Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich – Fried egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, served on a toasted English muffin. Simple but delicious.

  • Breakfast Croissant – Flaky croissant filled with scrambled eggs, ham, and Swiss cheese. A nice change from the standard breakfast sandwiches.

  • Cinnamon Raisin Toast – Perfectly toasted and topped with cinnamon sugar. Great with your morning coffee.

In addition to sandwiches, they also have fresh bakery items like bagels, muffins, scones, and croissants. The chocolate chip banana bread is one of my favorites.

Lunch Sandwiches and Paninis

While breakfast items are served all day, Coffee Bean also has sandwich options specifically for lunch. This includes both cold sandwiches as well as warm pressed paninis.

Some sandwiches I recommend:

  • Turkey Pesto – Sliced turkey, provolone cheese, tomato, spinach, and pesto sauce on focaccia bread. One of my go-to choices.

  • Tuna Salad Sandwich – Classic tuna salad with lettuce and tomato on whole wheat.

  • Caprese Panini – Fresh mozzarella, sliced tomato, basil, and balsamic vinaigrette pressed in a panini grill. Simple but delicious.

They also have non-sandwich lunch options like the Asian Cashew Chicken Salad. It has mixed greens, carrots, edamame, and sesame dressing. Nice if you want something lighter.

Pizza, Pasta, and Bowls

In addition to sandwiches, Coffee Bean has pizza, pasta, and grain bowls on their menu too.

The Margherita Pizza is wood-fired and has fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes. For pasta, I like the Chicken Pesto Cavatappi, which is a spiral pasta with grilled chicken, pesto sauce, grape tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese.

The grain bowls make a nice lighter option. The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl has chicken, broccoli, brown rice, carrots, sesame seeds, and teriyaki sauce. The flavors and textures pair nicely together.

Desserts and Sweets

No meal is complete without something sweet at the end! Coffee Bean’s dessert case is filled with tempting treats.

Some favorites include:

  • Brownies – Fudgy and chocolatey. Available in flavors like chocolate chip, rocky road, and salted caramel.

  • Cake Pops – Cake mixed with frosting on a stick and coated with chocolate or candy sprinkles. Fun twist on cake.

  • Cookies – Varieties like chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and sugar. Baked fresh in-store.

  • Cheesecake – Rich and creamy NY-style cheesecake available in rotating flavors.

They also have muffins, scones, and cinnamon rolls if you prefer a bakery-style dessert.

Drinks Menu

I couldn’t write about Coffee Bean without mentioning their expansive drinks menu!

They have a wide selection of espresso drinks like lattes, mochas, and macchiatos. You can customize the milk and flavors too.

Some examples:

  • Caramel Macchiato – Espresso with foamed milk and caramel sauce topped with more caramel drizzle.

  • Mint Mocha – Chocolatey mocha with added mint flavor.

  • Iced Vanilla Latte – Perfectly chilled latte with vanilla syrup. Great for summer.

Coffee Bean is also known for their specialty iced blended drinks. The Mocha Freeze combines coffee, chocolate sauce, ice, and milk for a slushy-like texture. They also have fruit smoothies and milkshakes.

Allergy to coffee consumption is rare, and the few clinical cases reported are likely due to other ingredients contained in the beverage, rather than to the coffee bean itself. However, in processing the 9 million tons of coffee produced each year, many coffee workers are exposed to irritating and sensitizing dust.
