How do you release KV drawer slides?

Full extension drawer guides made by Knape and Vogt, or “KV” hardware, enable the drawer to fully emerge from the cabinet. Two small positive lever releases that are on the back corners of the drawer runners on either side hold the drawer in place.

The drawer is kept from completely separating from the mounting hardware by these levers. You must trip the levers with your fingers in order to fully remove the drawer from the cabinet.

When you trip the drawer for removal, you won’t hear the click; however, you will hear it when you reinstall the drawer into the runners. Some models have a lever that pushes inward to release. Most have an upward release pull. If you are unable to find the levers by touch, get down at eye level and search for small, black levers.
