Place 1 cup water in the Instant Pot, then place the steamer rack in the Instant Pot (this one was included with the Instant Pot I bought). You could also use a steamer basket if you have one.
Place green beans on top of the steamer rack, then replace lid and move vent to SEALING.
Cook on MANUAL, LOW PRESSURE for 0-2 minutes, depending how soft you like your green beans. For firmer green beans cook for 0, for softer green beans cook for 2. (We usually cook ours for 1 minute).
We do not suggest cooking them under high pressure because the beans get too soft even after being cooked for 0 minutes.
QUICK RELEASE once the time has expired. Your green beans will still cook even if you set the timer to zero. As the Instant Pot builds up pressure, the beans steam.
Open the lid slowly, then take the green beans out of the Instant Pot. Add melted butter and salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.
