You can’t beat the flavor of a ribeye. If you are unsure of how to prepare this cut of beef, a gas grill works well. To prepare the ideal ribeye at your upcoming backyard barbecue, follow these instructions.
Due to their marbling, or fat content, ribeye steaks are one of the meats with the most flavor. The more marbling, the higher the USDA grades the steak. The highest rating is Prime, followed by Choice and Select. Our experts recommend buying ribeyes that 1. 25 inches thick with marbling throughout. Anything significantly thicker or thinner might make cooking more challenging, and the fat improves flavor.
Step 4: Let Rest
With tongs, remove the steaks from the grill and place them on a fresh plate. Before serving, allow steaks to rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the meat to absorb juices and reach its ideal temperature.
Even though grilling is one of the most popular and widely regarded as one of the best ways to prepare ribeye steak at home, it is not your only option. If you prefer a more hands-off method of cooking ribeye that yields a juicy steak, you are perfectly welcome to cook it in the oven because it does not dry out easily. Here are a few other top cooking methods for ribeye:
Try the boneless and bone-in ribeye steaks from Chicago Steak Company, which come in Premium Angus, USDA Prime wet-aged and dry-aged, Kobe, and Wagyu cuts.
Step 1: Prepare the Steaks and Grill
First, remove the steaks from the refrigerator. Salt both sides generously with salt. Then, before cooking, let them sit at room temperature for 45 minutes to let them brine.
When it’s almost time to cook, turn the grill’s heat up to high (450–500 degrees for a gas grill). Brush some olive oil on the grill grates before heating if they tend to stick.
Apply a thin layer of olive oil to each side of the steaks before placing them on the grill, and season with salt, pepper, or any other seasonings you like.

Your preference for well-doneness will affect the ribeye’s cook time.
You can quickly determine with a meat thermometer if the meat is cooked to the desired level of doneness.
Here are the temperatures you’re looking for…
To cook food to the perfect temperature at home, every cook needs a trustworthy meat thermometer.
On Sip Bite Go, you’ll often see me using:
The great thing about either of the thermometers above is that I don’t have to remove the food from the oven to know the temperature—it’s like having psychic abilities!
How to use them: I place the food in the oven, on the grill, or in the smoker after inserting the digital thermometer into the steak, pork, chicken, or whatever.
It measures the temperature as the meat cooks so I can see exactly what temperature the meat is at. Without having to take it out and check. Knowing the exact temperature of the food makes it very difficult to overcook it!
I wouldn’t advise using the exact same steak recipe that was prepared on a Weber on a George Foreman, Ninja Griller, Pit Boss, charcoal (which is somewhat similar), or a pellet grill (see below for information on my upcoming steak recipe for these types of grills). Use it for a true grill and adhere to my other recipes for various ways to prepare ribeyes.
It’s possible to grill frozen steak, and some people swear by it. Because I find it easier to work with and the grill time for ribeye is roughly half as long as from frozen, I prefer to grill thawed steak (that has been in the fridge overnight). According to my knowledge, cooking a ribeye on a grill from frozen takes around 30 minutes, occasionally longer. Although grilling from frozen can result in a nice thick crust. With constant flipping, of course!.
Since I love making pizza, of course I’ll suggest my Philly cheesesteak pizza with white pizza sauce. Or try my taco-style ground beef pizza recipe (steak can be used in place of the ground beef). I also adore the food from the Cheesecake Factory, and I recommend emulating their grilled steak tacos. Use soft corn tortillas, chargrilled steak, fresh avocado, tomato, a hot chipotle sauce similar to my jalapeno ranch sauce, crispy onions (try caramelized onions), and a sprinkle of cilantro to make grilled ribeye tacos like the Cheesecake Factory.
Bone-in or boneless ribeye steaks are available, as in this recipe. They are merely one of the meat-attached bones. A roast is a collection of bones that are kept together and contains a larger portion of the beef.
