How Long to Bake Chicken in the Oven
Cooking time depends entirely on the thickness of your cutlets. To fully cook thicker cutlets in the oven, it takes longer. Similarly, chicken cutlets that are extremely thinly cut will cook much more quickly than those that are thicker. The sweet spot, as with many things, is somewhere in the middle. You’ll need to adjust the cooking time based on the thickness you prefer.
For your cutlets, we advise a thickness of roughly half an inch.
Can I Make Chicken Cutlets Ahead of Time?
Absolutely! These are great for reheating. By marinating the cutlets in garlic mayo for several hours or overnight before baking, you can save time and significantly improve the flavor profile of your chicken. To ensure that you get gorgeous, crispy chicken cutlets, save your dredging for just before baking.
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts with a crispy breadcrumb coating baked in the oven. This breaded baked chicken is a weeknight go-to favorite.
They are incredibly versatile, simple to work with, and delicious when prepared properly. Sure, I love me some wings, thighs, and bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts, but most of the time, when I’m looking for weeknight dinner ideas, I turn to my reliable boneless, skinless chicken breasts, and my new favorite is this simple breaded baked chicken.
In this episode of My Love Affair with Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, we’re making crispy breaded baked chicken using just a few basic ingredients. And, surprise, the chicken doesn’t need to be dipped in egg or dusted with flour. We’re using a special sauce and crunchy breadcrumbs instead.
I always keep boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the refrigerator. Even if I don’t have a specific plan for how I might use them, I always buy a few each week at the store. Isn’t that the beauty of them, after all?
For two reasons, I like to pound my chicken breasts: first, it’s the best form of therapy at the end of the day to take a mallet and beat the living daylights out of something, and, second, it’s crucial that the chicken breasts are all the same thickness so they cook uniformly.
