How to Cook Store Bought Gnocchi
If you’re a beginning cook, you might be unsure of how to prepare pre-made gnocchi. The good news is that it’s very easy and this ingredient is very adaptable.
Like any other pasta, pre-packaged gnocchi needs to be cooked in boiling water. Store-bought gnocchi is often quite salty. Look at the gnocchi package carefully; if the nutrition facts indicate a high sodium content, wait to salt the cooking water.
While the gnocchi is boiling, pay attention to it because they can easily overcook and lose their shape.
You can combine your cooked and drained gnocchi with any sauce and/or vegetables of your choice. With marinara, pesto, or bolognese ragu, as well as this tomato-mushroom sauce, store-bought gnocchi is excellent.
How long the gnocchi should be cooked is one question that you might have. Typically, it’s 2 to 5 minutes. The precise response will vary depending on whether you have fresh, frozen, or dried. According to my experience, fresh gnocchi (located in the store’s refrigerator section) cooks the most quickly. (To determine the precise cooking time recommended, consult the gnocchi packet.) ).
What type of gnocchi can you fry?
This is the kind of gnocchi I use: gnocchi di patate, the common potato gnocchi in a packet.
You can use any brand you like; it doesn’t have to be fancy. In fact, I usually just buy the cheapest one I can find. The brand in the photos is the one I happened to have in the cupboard.
This type of gnocchi typically comes in a plastic packet like this one, vacuum-packed or simply loose. Since gnocchi typically has a pretty long expiration date (this one was about 9 months from the time I purchased it! ), and because it’s a nice change from pasta, I almost always keep a pack of it in the cupboard.
There isn’t much to say here; simply cook the gnocchi in a frying pan with some butter and/or oil (I like to use a little bit of both!).
Thats all there is to it. Easy peasy.
Simply cook it in the pan while occasionally stirring until the gnocchi is nicely golden brown throughout. It will be exquisitely crispy, and it makes an amazing noise as you stir it in the pan.
How To Cook Prepackaged Gnocchi
You have so many different cooking options with a simple package of store-bought gnocchi.
You could prepare the gnocchi the traditional way by boiling it, by frying it in butter and oil, or by roasting it with other vegetables for a quick sheet pan dinner.
Alternately, you could cook the gnocchi in the air fryer to get gorgeously crisp edges.
Choose one of these methods to prepare the gnocchi, then serve it with your preferred toppings or sauce.
