The only point and mechanic in the game is punching of turkeys. It takes several strikes to kill a turkey, and the Doom Marines’ timing of the punches determines how much points each turkey receives. Once one turkey is killed, another falls into place while gobbling. When Doom 3 was first released, there were no positive effects from playing the game. However, if the marines could achieve a new high score of 25,000 points or more, they would receive an email on their PDA from the UAC HR department telling them that their time was wasted by punching defenseless turkeys, and that this would automatically take away two days of leave. In BFG Edition, this additionally unlocks an achievement named “Killing Time”.
