Can I bake bacon in a convection oven?
Without a doubt, bacon can be baked in a convection or toaster oven. This works well in the summer if you don’t want to heat the entire house. I use our convection oven all the time when I want a few strips of bacon but not the whole pack, or perhaps you don’t have a conventional oven but you still have a hankering for some crispy baked bacon.
The added benefit is that you can start cooking right away because you don’t need to wait for the oven to heat up.
Use the same amount of time as a regular oven (16 minutes for thin strips, 20–25 minutes for thicker strips, and more time for crispier bacon).
If you want to cook a lot of bacon or a whole pack, be prepared to bake the bacon in batches or just use a regular oven. I use stainless steel baking pans that come in a variety of sizes, which is great when using a convection oven, as you can see in the equipment list below.
Yes! Dont throw out your bacon grease. If I don’t plan to use it right away, I usually store mine in the refrigerator to prevent it from spoiling.
You can repurpose your used bacon grease by cooking eggs in it, toasting it in a pan, or using one of the many recipes available.
If you’re not doing a hot compost, I wouldn’t suggest throwing your bacon grease/fat in there!
