What Can I Make With Ground Beef And Pasta?

How to Make It

For a recipe card with complete instructions and ingredient measurements, see the post below.

Cook and crumble the ground beef and onions. Drain grease. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add salt, Worcestershire sauce, and flour. Stir to combine and cook for 3 minutes. Add chicken broth, tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Bring a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

Cook for 15 minutes while bringing the pasta water to a boil. Boil the pasta for 7 minutes or per package instructions.

Slowly stir in the half and half to the sauce. Reduce heat to low and sprinkle in the cheese. Stir to combine.

Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Serve with garlic bread with cheese.

  • The cheese and half-and-half should not be cold when added to the sauce, so shred them first and set them aside.
  • If at all possible, shred cheese from a block rather than a package because it melts and tastes better. I like to use Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Yellow.
  • Pastas like penne, rigatoni, ziti, bowties, or cavatappi also go well with this meal.
  • Additions of drained diced tomatoes, frozen peas, carrots, and/or corn are optional.
  • Half-and-half can be substituted with milk, but the sauce won’t be quite as thick and creamy. Whole milk works best; reduce the heat to low before adding to prevent curdling.

Keep in an airtight container and either freeze for up to three months or refrigerate for up to three days.

What Can I Make With Ground Beef And Pasta?

  • 1 + ½ lbs. ground beef, 85% lean
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 Tablespoons flour, optional-helps thicken the sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 16 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup half and half, (half cream, half milk)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ pound Rotini pasta
  • Set the cheese, half-and-half, and shredded cheese aside. When we add those to the sauce, we don’t want them to be cold.
  • Cook and crumble the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onions halfway through and cook until softened.
  • Drain grease. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  • Add salt, Worcestershire sauce, and flour. After combining, cook for three minutes to get rid of the taste of raw flour.
  • Add chicken broth and scrape the pan’s bottom with a silicone spatula. Add the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Bring a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes while bringing the pasta water to a boil. Add the pasta once the water is boiling and cook for seven minutes or as directed on the package.
  • Stirring as you go, gradually incorporate the half-and-half into the sauce
  • Reduce heat to low and slowly sprinkle in the cheese. Stir to combine. Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Serve with garlic bread with cheese.
  • If at all possible, shred cheese from a block rather than a package because it melts and tastes better. I like to use Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Yellow.
  • Pastas like penne, rigatoni, ziti, bowties, or cavatappi also go well with this meal.
  • Drained diced tomatoes, frozen peas, carrots, and/or corn are optional additions to the recipe.
  • Half-and-half can be substituted with milk, but the sauce won’t be quite as thick and creamy. Whole milk works best; reduce the heat to low before adding to prevent curdling. Conversely, heavy cream may also be used.
